Here to There to Here: Hastings
In 2022, I collaborated with artist Francesca Giuliano creating the first iteration of Here to There to Here as part of the exhibition Many Rivers to Cross in Riverside Studios, London.
I had been offered the opportunity by Hastings Art School to occupy for a week, a gallery space provided by Hypha Studios in the local shopping mall in Hastings, a town where migrant boat landings is a reality. Frankie agreed that this was a perfect venue to ask local people to answer our four questions: Where do you live? Where were you born? Where are your ancestors from? Where do you dream of? Over a week, we painted over 100 responses in the gallery, engaging with shoppers who were invited to leave video answers, culminating in a public talk around the project and our findings.
